Product description The Vixen VMC260L 260mm f/11.5 Catadioptric Telescope is a serious deep-sky observing instrument, allowing you to see those things on the star map that you've always passed by when using smaller scopes. With 169% more light-gathering capacity than Vixen's 8.0" scopes, this unique scope offers a Maksutov-Cassegrain-like design in a big but manageable package. It is also a great imaging tool.Consisting of Pyrex primary and secondary spherical mirrors, Vixen's improvement of the Maksutov design is in the incorporation of a two-element corrector lens in front of the secondary mirror. This system tidily corrects spherical aberration and field curvature, but also eliminates a heavy, expensive front corrector plate found in conventional Maksutov designs. The resulting open tube design eliminates typical dew problems.Focusing is achieved via primary mirror movement, and optical collimation is accomplished by secondary mirror adjustments, just like on the smaller Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes to which many amateurs have already become accustomed. The VMC260L is configured in this package to directly interface with Vixen's optional Sphinx SXD mount, and requires a user-supplied flip mirror, finderscope, and finderscope bracket. - Internal meniscus correction lenses lower weight, speed cool-down times, and practically eliminate dewing problems
- 2.4" (60mm) focuser barrel allows even illumination across full-frame DSLRs and also accepts optional 2" eyepieces/accessories
- Top-mounted carrying handle
- Specifically configured to Vixen Sphinx SXD mount
