Product description Designed for electric guitarists and bass players, the Walrus Audio Julia is an analog chorus and vibrato pedal capable of anything from mild chorusing effects to woozy, wacky vibrato. The pedal provides controls over the rate of the effect, as well as its depth. A lag knob is on hand to dictate a delay time, which in turn affects the LFO. This control fosters experimentation in a manner not usually found on analog chorus pedals. An esoteric three-way blend knob is offered. At noon, the knob gives you a traditional chorus in full effect, while maximum settings give you vibrato. Between the minimum position and noon, you’ll induce a subtle blend of chorusing with your dry tone. Anything between noon and the maximum position, however, will give you eccentric effects somewhere between chorus and vibrato. Furthermore, a toggle switch lets you choose between sine waves and triangle waves as the root source of your LFO. The pedal, powered by a separately available power supply, utilizes a true-bypass circuit to preserve tonal integrity when it's been disengaged. Whether you want a little tonal rounding on your bass, a little vibrato for your alt-country guitar parts, or warbling of a most psychedelic order, the Julia will come in handy. - Controls at a Glance
- Rate Knob: The Rate knob allows you to set the speed at which the LFO sweeps.Depth Knob: The Depth knob allows you to change the amplitude of the LFO.Lag Knob: The Lag knob let you set the center delay time around which the LFO will modulate. From smooth tight modulation at lower settings, to noisy woozy detuning at maximum. The knob adds an extra dimension to the traditional chorus/vibrato landscape.D-C-V Blend: The Dry-Chorus-Vibrato Blend changes the ratio of dry to wet signal sent to the output. At minimum, you will hear no effect. Set it to noon for equal parts dry and wet, which is the traditional chorus setting. Set it to maximum for 100% wet, giving you a vibrato setting. Explore the ground between minimum and noon for adding slight amounts of movement to your dry signal (these settings work equally well on bass as well as guitar). Explore the area between noon and maximum for all sorts of chorus/vibrato combinations.Wave Switch: The Wave toggle lets you select either sine or triangle LFO waveforms. The sharper corners of the triangle wave are more suited for chorus effects, while the rounded shape of the sine wave is often useful in vibration contexts. How you use these waves is up to you, of course.
