Product description Designed for electric guitarists and more, the Walrus Audio Monument Harmonic Tap Tremolo is a pedal that provides multiple types of vibrato/tremolo effects. It allows you to create different amalgams of rate, depth, and LFO wave shapes, all while providing tap-tempo controls replete with a subdivision knob. Smooth tremolos suitable for country music can be engaged, as can rough, rocky tones tailored for esoteric projects. You can also secure a clean boost by setting the Depth knob to 0 and boosting the Volume knob above unity gain.A harmonic/standard toggle is on hand to dictate the overall mode of the pedal. In standard mode, the Monument will operate more like a traditional tremolo pedal, affecting all frequencies equally. Set the pedal to harmonic mode, however, and you’ll get a sound more typical of a vintage Fender amplifier, splitting the signal into two different frequency bands and modulating these bands out of phase with each other for a warmer sound. Should you decide to use your foot to dictate the tempo of the tremolo, a division knob subdivides the effect into quarter-note, triplet, eighth-note, and sixteenth-note values. The Monument features true bypass circuitry, meaning that in its disengaged state your tone remains pristine and unaffected. The bypass footswitch also doubles as a momentary switch. In bypass, simply press and hold the switch to turn on tremolo for emphasis, and then release your foot back to a dry, unprocessed tone. If you’d like to modulate the Rate parameter with an expression pedal, this can be done by connecting said pedal to the Monument’s expression input. Similarly, a Tap-In jack lets you set the time of the tremolo with an auxiliary switch, if that’s your preference. The Monument requires a 9V DC power supply to operate, which is available separately. - Controls at a Glance
- Rate Knob: This allows you to set the speed of the LFO. Turning the knob clockwise increases the speed.Depth Knob: This controls the strength of the tremolo effect.Shape Knob: This knob changes the LFO wave shapes. You can move between Sine, Square, Ramp, Lumps, and a random mode called Monument.Division Knob: The Division knob sets the multiplication factor used to multiply the tempo set by the tap switch. You’ll find quarter-, triplet-, eighth-, and sixteenth-note subdivisions.Volume Knob: This adjusts your overall output level. Setting the Depth knob at 0 and the volume knob above unity creates a clean boost.Harmonic/Standard Toggle: Standard mode enables a full frequency volume modulation—a traditional tremolo, in other words. The harmonic position toggles a mode enabling a Fender Brown Face style vibrato, with the signal split in two, using a low-pass filter on one signal, and a high-pass filter on the other. An LFO modulates each signal, but the LFOs operate 180° out of phase.Tap Footswitch: This sets the time of the tremolo. Tap in a 1/4-note pattern to sync the LFO to what you are playing.Bypass Footswitch: This true bypass switch turns the effect on or off. It can also instantiate momentary control.
