Product description The 4TB Purple 3.5" Surveillance Internal Retail Hard Drive (WD40PURX) from Western Digital is a 3.5" SATA drive with a data transfer rate of 6 Gb/s that is designed to withstand the stresses placed on it in a 24/7 surveillance system. With support for up to 32 high-definition surveillance cameras, this 4TB hard drive can hold a large amount of data and gives you the ability to easily upgrade and expand your security system.
A 64MB cache helps to ensure uninterrupted data transfers and the drive's 300,000 load/unload cycles, combined with its 1 million hours MTBF helps ensure the drive will have a strong operational life. This drive is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems and includes mounting screws. - Surveillance-Class Drive
- WD Purple surveillance-class storage has been tested to be compatible in a wide-range of security systems. These drives are designed to replace standard desktop drives that were not designed for the 24/7 always-on, high-definition surveillance environment. Desktop drives are built to run for only short intervals and are not engineered to withstand high-temperature fluctuations and equipment vibrations found in a typical surveillance application.

- This WD Purple Surveillance-class hard drive is equipped with AllFrame technology which works with ATA streaming to reduce frame loss, improve playback and increase the number of drive bays supported. AllFrame reduces video interruptions that commonly occur when desktop hard drives are incorrectly used as storage in security systems. Missed frames and lost footage can be a problem when an event occurs and surveillance footage needs to be retrieved. WD Purple with AllFrame provides the confidence you should expect when it's time to play back and review critical surveillance footage.
- Optimized Performance for Up to 32 Cameras
- With support for up to 32 high-definition surveillance cameras, this WD Purple hard drive gives you the flexibility to upgrade and expand your security system in the future.
- IntelliPower Rotational Speed
- In terms of speed, this drive operates using WD's IntelliPower rotational speed. This means that the rpm speed of the drive depends on the operations being performed. If the drive is performing mostly sequential reads and writes, its speed will be increased as compared to if it were performing mostly random mode operations. This 6TB drive also features a 64MB cache helps ensure uninterrupted data transfers.

- With integrated IntelliSeek technology, this WD Purple drive calculates the optimum seek speed which lowers power consumption, noise and vibration that can damage and cause drives to wear out more quickly.
