Designed for use in desktop systems and external enclosures, this drive can help improve performance for heavier computing tasks whether you are a digital artist, video editor, photographer, or gamer and connects to your system's 3.5" drive bay using the SATA III 6 Gb/s interface.
This 500GB drive also features a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, a 64MB cache to help ensure uninterrupted data transfer, a sustained data transfer rate of up to 150 MB/s, and a dual-core processor for improved performance. Additionally, this drive is built with features to help ensure it will have a strong operational life, with 300,000 load/unload cycles, <1 in 1014 non-recoverable errors per bits read, StableTrac technology, and Dynamic Cache technology.
The 500GB Black 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal HDD is lightweight and energy efficient, weighing 0.95 lb and consuming an average of 6.8W during read/write operations. It provides users with free access to Acronis True Image software (WD Edition), is protected by a limited 5-year warranty, and is compatible with both Windows and Mac, the latter of which requires a reformat.
