Product description Hard Drives by Application: Which Is Best for You? Read More Designed with SMB customers in mind, the 8TB Red Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD from WD is well-suited for medium to large-scale NAS environments with up to sixteen 3.5" drive bays. Engineered to handle increased workloads, this 8TB drive operates using a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 128MB cache, and a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, which all help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers with a sustained rate of up to 205 MB/s. This drive also features high levels of reliability, with 600,000 load/unload cycles, <10 in 1015 non-recoverable read errors per bits read, dual-plane balance control technology, and 1,000,000 hours MTBF for 8-16 bay NAS systems. Shock protection is provided by a multi-axis shock sensor and WD's NASware 3.0 helps increase system compatibility, allowing Red Pro drives to be more easily integrated with your existing network infrastructure. General Features - NAS for Big Business
- Increase the efficiency and productivity of your business with WD Red Pro hard drives for up to 16-bay NAS systems. The WD Red Pro comes equipped with NASware 3.0, which increases system compatibility allowing for integration with your existing network infrastructure. Add value to your business by enabling your employees to quickly share their files and back up folders reliably with WD Red Pro NAS hard drives in your NAS solution
- NASware 3.0 Technology
- WD's advanced firmware technology, NASware 3.0, enables integration, robust data protection, and improved performance for NAS systems operating under heavy demand
- Built for NAS Compatibility
- Desktop drives aren't purpose-built for NAS, but WD Red Pro drives with NASware are. WD's technology helps takes the guesswork out of selecting a drive and balances performance and reliability in NAS and RAID environments. Simply put, WD Red Pro is compatible with medium to large NAS enclosures
- Larger NAS Bay Shock Protection
- WD Red Pro is equipped with a multi-axis shock sensor that automatically detects subtle shock events and dynamic fly height technology which adjusts each read-write function to compensate and protect the data. This combination of technology further protects the drives in larger 1 to 16 bay NAS environments and helps increase hard drive reliability
- 3D Active Balance Plus
- WD's enhanced dual-plane balance control technology helps improve the overall drive performance and reliability. Hard drives that are not properly balanced may cause excessive vibration and noise in a multi-drive system, reduce the hard drive life span, and degrade the performance over time
- Error Recovery Prevention
- Built specifically for RAID and NAS environments, WD Red Pro drives come equipped with error recovery controls as part of NASware 3.0, which prevents the drive from fallout in RAID applications.
- Extended Drive Testing
- A NAS environment that has up to 16 bays is very demanding on a hard drive with added vibration, heat, and other factors. This is why every WD Red Pro drive is shipped with extended thermal cycle burn-in testing which helps certify each drive for extended reliable operation
