Product description The XILS 3 V2.0 from XILS-Lab recreates the EMS Synthi modular synthesizer while adding companion components such as the 256 Analog Sequencer to provide a flexible virtual synthesizer and an advanced effects processor.
Modular synthesis uses patch chords to connect outputs with destinations, a situation that can become messy quite soon. For the Synthi, a Pin Matrix was developed that allowed these connections to be made with the simple insertion of a pin into a matrix.
Five other modules have been added to the main audio module to greatly expand the sonic possibilities of the software. Vector synthesis using an X-Y joystick adds further depth, along with three audio effects. - Six oscillators grouped in three pairs, with WaveShaping (sine wave, saw, triangle and square)
- Noise oscillator with noise colors
- Non-linear analog filter with zero delay and three modes (12, 18, 24 dB low-pass)
- Three trapezoidal envelope generators,
- Syncable looping envelope generator switchable to ADSR
- Two polyphonic LFOs including one at the audio rate
- Polyphonic ring modulator
- Two independent outputs feeding the stereo bus, each with one analog low-/high-pass filter
- Programmable joystick vector controller (up to 32+32 modulation targets)
- Polyphonic sequencer with three independent lines, slew rates, three recording modes
- Sequencer can act as a modulation source
- Pitch tracker, envelope follower, transient, gate, sample and hold modules
- Chorus, delay, and spring reverb
- Six play modes (including unison 2/4/6), polyphonic and mono portamento/glissando/legato, two different keyboard scaling, polyphonic aftertouch and VCA handling
- Preset database engine (find a patch quickly and create custom tags)
- Functions as an instrument or effect plug-in
- Comprehensive manual with a getting started and tutorial sections
